Livin' in the 90s

So I'm taking care of some bills and other business this evening and there is nothing on tv that I want to watch. Luckily, Adelphia gives us music channels. I've got it on the 90s station and so far, I've heard:

SWV, "Weak" - you know you loved that song in 7th grade. I had the single.

Boys II Men, "I'll Make Love to You" - LOVED it. Seriously loved this song. Actually, I really liked this group. Whatever happened to them?

Robyn, "Do You Know (What It Takes)" - I have no idea. This song is not familiar. The tv tells me it was a hit in 1997. Probably at that time I was too cool for the radio. Just kidding. I will always love bad pop on the radio.

Donna Lewis, "I Love You Always Forever" - this is the song that goes, "You've got the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen." This reminds me of French III with Megan for some reason. I think she liked that song. Right, Megs?

MC Hammer, "Have You Seen Her?" - OH. MY. GOD. My first dance with Jason somebody at 4-H camp (he was a counselor giving me a pity dance because I was so chubby). At the time this was my favorite song. So freakin good.

Adam Clayton(of U2)/Larry Mullen, "M:I Theme song" - Jeff can tell you that I really like this song. I just do. Shut up.

Taylor Dane, "Love Will Lead You Back" - Yuck. I used to watch a top 10 show on Saturday mornings so that I could see videos because my parents wouldn't get cable for us. When this video came on I was shocked and appalled that it was on the top 10. I really hated Taylor Dane.

Sophie B. Hawkins, "As I Lay Me Down" - I know, you wanted it to be "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" because it has the lesbian reference. That song is definitely better than this one.

EMF, "Unbelievable" - SWEET! Ya'll, this song was so rad in 6th grade.

Jade, "Don't Walk Away" - "Don't walk away, boy...my love won't hurt you...don't walk away boy...I'll be right there for you." From the album Jade to the Max. That's right.

Goo Goo Dolls, "Name" - For some reason this song reminds me of riding in the car with Ashley and Heather - the tv tells me that it came out in 1995, so it probably came on a lot while Heather, our only 16-year-old friend was driving us 15-year-olds around.

Michael Bolton, "Time Love and Tenderness" - and now the bad part about this station rears its ugly head. hee. and how ugly his head is. Thank god for mute.
Biz Markie, "Just a Friend" - Freakin awesome. 5th grade talent show, David Nudelman and company, the lunchroom went crazy. Kind of risque. Oh snap! The tv says this came out in 89 - cutting it close there 90s station. I don't give a shit, this song is the bomb! "don't ever talk to a girl who says she just has a friend"

Peabo Bryson/Regina Bale - "A Whole New World (Aladdin's Theme)" - Seriously, is this the best station or what? I could do this all night. But I won't. Because I need to sleep at some point. I'll probably still listen, but for your sake I won't document.

Next time we're doing 80s.

Update: Good thing I stopped when I did. The next song was No Doubt's "Don't Speak" which I HATE HATE LOATHE. That's my cue to turn it off.

I'd just like to add that I did this for like an hour. The post says it was posted at 9:33, but that's when I started. It's now 10:20 as I hit "Post."

Niki - I am shamefully embarassed that my name was associated with that song!! Yes, at the time, I was dating a guy with very pretty eyes. Gag.

Vous avez les yeux bleu les plus incroyable que j'ai jamais vue.

Beyond that unpleasantness, this post kills me! so funny.

I would just like to say that SWV reminds me of Lizzy Keister. I had the tape single, and we would listen to it out by her pool. And talk about boys. Whose names I would be embarassed to mention.

And yes, Goo Goo Dolls does make me think of driving around in Heather's car. And listening to Star 94!

Wow. . . that was a total trip down memory lane! It's crazy how long it's been since I've heard some of those songs. I actually really love "Unbelievable" and "Just a Friend." If I heard them, I'd be dancing all over the house right now!
