Today I made my way back to the University, this time using the tram (hurray!! figured out how to work it!). Of course, I tried to follow the map to get to my destination, but I think I got off at the wrong stop and ended up carousing around campus with my 500 lb backpack (number of kg unknown). Anyway, the point is, there's this building on campus that has these medieval-esque outside "hallways" and it made me feel like I was at Hogwarts. If you've ever played the Sorcerer's Stone video game, you know exactly what I mean - it's the hallways you go through to get to the Quidditch field. (I have just confirmed that I can access the internet with my laptop, so hopefully I'll be able to upload pictures w/my new camera to the blog when everything else around me settles down)
These two things alone are enough to make a girl feel better in an unknown place, but fortunately there was something else waiting for me, too. For those unfamiliar with hostels, they usually have a shared bathroom, sort of like dorms. Unlike dorms, floors are rarely gender neutral - and thank goodness, because if they were gender neutral, I would have been denied the experience of seeing a grownish-man-type person exiting the "Gentlemen" shower room wearing metallic gold silk boxer shorts. I am SO not kidding. I even did a double take to make sure they were what I thought they were.
this picture really doesn't do them justice, but i elected to put this one up there instead of the one with the headless man wearing them with a clearly outlined penis. you're welcome.
