See This NOW: Little Miss Sunshine

Little Miss Sunshine is one of the best movies I've seen in a very, very, very long time. From what I can discern it took Sundance by storm and has become a pretty big hit. It's hard to know what the word is in the US about this little film, but at the risk of contributing to the overhype I'm going to tell you to GO SEE IT. Like Now. If you're at work, leave early. You won't be sorry. If you're in the library procrastinating your reading, get up and go to the cinema - you will leave refreshed. If you're like me putzing around on the internet, then you, definitely, you go. And if you're too cheap/poor to go like, right now, then go to the soonest matinee you can make.

I won't tell you what it's about because I think that might be the best way to see this movie. I knew nothing about it except that everything I heard was fantastic. The first five minutes I had absolutely no idea where it was going and to me that's one of the absolute perfect moments of a good movie-going experience - and in this day of internet-trailer-pre-hype age, it's a rare gem.

So take my word for it - this movie has something for everyone. Well, everyone with a soul and a sense of humor. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be glad you didn't see Saw III instead.

No, not this Little Miss Sunshine, but I like her, too.

ugh. comments are not cooperating for me today, but I was trying to say that I've heard some hype and Greg & I saw a trailer once and we were laughing. We don't really go see movies, but I'm in a weird emotional state today and would really like to see a good movie. It's been so long since I've seen a movie that affected me. Probably because, as mentioned, we don't watch them much anymore. This weekend is date night, so we'll see what we can work out. Thanks for the recommendation. Also, I miss having someone to chat about Veronica Mars with -- witty and well written. It's such a good show and I think so many people are missing out on it.

Little Miss Sunshine was very, very funny, if somewhat predictable. However, there is simply no reason to be seeing anything besides Borat right now.
