Today I decided that instead of studying the subjects that would be on the bar exam, I would do something equally important - book my hotel room for those two hellish days.
Raleigh isn't a giant city, but it's no small town either, so first I wanted to find out where in Raleigh the bar was going to take place. I trotted over to the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners website to find the address of what I presumed to be either a building at NC State or perhaps a hotel or something where we would be convening in late July to torture ourselves with this exam.
Lo and behold - I'll be damned if the North Carolina Bar Exam isn't administered at the freakin' State Fair Grounds! I am so NOT joking about this. Will I be asked to pick the best livestock? To make an apple pie from scratch? Or maybe throw a ball into a bullseye to knock a state supreme court justice into the dunk tank?! Why the hell do they have us studying "secured transactions" if this thing is going to be a state fair?
I'm really hoping to get assigned to the Horse Complex or the Grandstand so that I can show off those horse maneuvers I learned growing up.
Current motivation to study for bar: somewhere between non-existent and vacant thought in the back of my head.

Fun times! My cousin Evelyn (remember her? she's hard to forget, right?) grew up and lives in Raleigh, if you want her email to ask about anything to do while you are there. Although taking the Bar AT the State Fair sounds like you are pretty booked up! guaranteed hours of entertainment. ;)
Seems appropriate to me! hahaha Double 1st Cousins will most definitely be on your bar exam!
Ah, sweet! Welcome to North Carolina!!
