At 12:01 "tonight" the final installment of Harry Potter's adventures at Hogwarts will be unveiled. Unlike books 4, 5, and 6 I will not be attending the midnight release parties (go ahead, call me a dork, I'm comfortable with it). At midnight I will in all likelihood be in the library suffering through an essay about corporations or secured transactions, or God willing, evidence.
I also will not be reading Deathly Hallows right away as I did all the other books.
Instead, I'm going to hide my head in the sand, avoid the internet as much as possible and cover my ears and sing "la-la-la" if I overhear conversations about it. I probably won't get around to reading it until sometime in August (if I'm lucky) and my expectation of getting that far without knowing whether Harry lives or dies is only marginally more more than my confidence in failing the bar (which, at this point, is fairly high).
If you know me (and love me), please understand that the bar has ruined my life and provide me a little consolation prize in not revealing ANY HP goodness before I've read the books (including reactions, which I assume will include tears). Now, if we can just get the media to do the same....
Countdown to bar: 3.5 days (shit.)
Update: Who ARE these people? I'd murder them. (They were in London to get their hands on the HP book at the very first moment.)
Ken Zwier, 42, from Phoenix, Ariz., grew and bleached his hair to achieve the golden tresses of villain Lucius Malfoy. "Tomorrow I'm buzzing it all off. It's been a couple of years," said Zwier, who was lining up with his wife and two daughters — all in costume. The family planned to read the book aloud to one another on their flight back to the United States Saturday. They said anyone who complained would be offered ear plugs.

Poor, poor Niki. I've thought of you several times today. My lips are sealed.
If it makes you feel any better, while Mike is at the mile-long Diagon Alley in D.C. and Jenn is at the stellar party in St. Louis, I'm going to Kroger. With my mom.
I've been thinking of you, too. . . it seems so unfair! I promise not to reveal anything!
I have been thinking of you as well. . and even though you were the one that ruined the Harry & Ginny connection for me. .I will be kind and keep my lips sealed (just don't go reading blogs for a bit) as I just finished tonight and had to endure a whole day of pestering and fear of finding out something I didn't want to know.
Good luck in both the bar (can't believe it's here!) and avoiding all HP tidbits, which I think you will need more luck on, personally.
Love ya!
Thinking of you today!! Let us know how it goes...
it's been a week. . starting to get worried of the permanence of this cloak! I'd like a little tiny report to know you're still around and the bar didn't really finish you off!
