Olympics: Day 8-1

* Did you see Phelps in the 100m fly?? Holy. Crap. I was off the couch, screaming at the TV. His mom and I both thought he got second. To be quite honest, even in slow mo it looks like the other guy touched the wall first. Thank goodness for electronic walls! (Update: Before publishing, silver medalist, Cavic, was protesting this result. This is getting interesting. I love Olympic scandal.)

* Nadal advances to the Gold Medal match in men's singles tennis! Hurray! Boo for NBC for no coverage of tennis what.so.ever. I know he's not American, but he's the #1 player in the world; some of us might be interested. (*Admittedly, I don't have cable, so it may be on the sister networks, of course this is not good enough for me.)

* More and more documents are surfacing stating that one of the Chinese gymnasts is 13/14 years old. China's got some 'splainin to do. (Also, she's not the one that I think looks youngest, so now I'm about 95% confident that one girl is totally 12.)

* This weekend will start the end of the sports we've become familiar with and transition to others that as of yet I do not care about. I don't want gymnastics to go away. I'm uneasy about track & field taking the place of swimming. If I remember from year's past, I always poo-poo track & field and then get totally into it. Go figure. What else we got going on?

I was out for Dan's birthday last night and totally missed all the excitement! I'll be watching tonight, though.

I'm looking forward to some track & field, though I'm sad to see gymnastics on its way out, as well as diving--my two favorites. I'm kind of glad swimming is up, though. I feel like I have to watch it so I don't miss anything exciting, but I also sometimes feel like I'm watching the same thing over and over.
