BCS, Bite Me.

It's like this in the BCS standings after previous #3 and undefeated Penn State lost to Iowa yesterday, and #1 and #2 both pulled out victories.

1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. Oklahoma

First things first, this totally sucks for Florida. Both the Harris Poll and the USA Today poll put the Gators at #3, as does every other poll I've seen, yet the BCS places them below Texas for some unknown reason. I am now envisioning a situation where Florida beats Alabama in the SEC Championship, but gets stuck out in the cold at the number 3 slot with Texas Tech and Texas having a re-match for the title.  Ugh.

On a more positive note, Alabama definitely looked beatable on Saturday.  I really thought LSU was going to knock them off their perch, but alas they choked and Alabama came back in overtime for the win.

Texas Tech, on the otherhand, looked mighty unstoppable against Oklahoma State.  I don't know who is doing the rankings, but I definitely would've placed them at #1 over Alabama.  They look like the strongest team out there to me, and my money is on Graham Harrell for the Heisman.

BCS may be bullshit, but one thing is for sure: it definitely keeps everyone in suspense!

Nik! Don't despair too much! Texas Tech, Texas and Oklahoma are all in the Big XII south. And the Big XII has a championship game, so at least one of them will get beat!

I'm SEC all the way, baby!

I agree Nik, this is a complete Obamanation. But fear not because I propose a Change to the BCS that we can all believe in...Yes We Can!

First, how dare Alabama and Texas Tech go undefeated this far into the season? What about all those poor downtrodden teams that they defeated? And what about the likes of Texas, Florida and Oklahoma - they have only one loss - how can they live with themselves? Even WVU or Ga Tech, being upper-middle of their conference; have they no compassion for Washington (0-9) or Phillip Fulmer and his mighty Vol's (3-7)?

Okay, here's the pitch... We convince everyone involved (or at least 50% of them) that they should go out onto the field every week and play/coach as hard as they possibly can. Then at the end of the game when the participants think it has all been decided, that the better team has prevailed, the scoreboard is reset to 0 – 0 or 28 – 28. Whatever, we can work the final score out later. The point is that no one wins and no one loses, therefore everyone really wins and the world is a better place! At the end of the season every team gets to go to a bowl game and all the bowls are of equal importance. Also, as a bonus they will all be played on fantasy island. Now I am sure you are asking, how will we fly all these teams and their families to fantasy island? Easy: tax the shit out of small businesses!

Exactly, Greg. Exactly.

Or, we could just have a playoff, like every other sport.

or there's that... c'mon I was trying to pick a fight. Although, you'd think I have had enough whippings lately (ga/fl game, election, etc.)

You know us hippie-dippy types are lovers, not fighters. We discuss, hug it out, then sing Kumbaya around the camp fire. : )
