has anyone else noticed that bananas are harder to "open" than they used to be? i don't know if it's something about getting old, or what, but my bananas rarely unveil with ease anymore. the top stem never just pops away from the banana like it used to. it's stubborn, holds on, and causes the top part to get all mushy and splits the banana like half-way down.
is this happening to anyone else, or just me?

Try opening your bananas from the opposite end. It's counterintuitive, but I promise you will never go back to the stem. They open much cleaner, you'll create fewer of those nasty stringy things that peel off the sides of the banana, and that inedible little nub at the bottom will come right off. This tip will change your life.
for some reason, i can't wait to try this.
i'll try your method tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes. i must admit, i'm kind of skeptical, but i'm going to put my trust in you.
Just tried it...works like a charm! No strings, no bruising, nada.
Matthew, whoever you are, thank you. My life is forever changed.
that's what this site is for - bringing people together to change the world.
Nice little blog niki. I have to say i have avoided them for the most part but now find them quite addictive...i blame mat and jeff's report of their vegas trip...
Matt, you've made me want to start eating bananas. I could do with changing my life.
Niki, when jeff is talking poker he takes on a maverick like air. There'll always be risky business.
So, I'm a little behind it seems in reading your posts. I tried to start at the beginning last week when you first sent it out, but did not have much time unfortunately, due to the current pace at work, so when I came back today, I just started with today's entry and I've been jumping all around and I'm a little discombobulated now. (wow, according to my spell check, I actually spelled that correctly the first time. amazing.) Anyhoo! I'm scatterbrained enough as it is, can you tell? I just wanted to say I am highly intrigued by this new approach to bananas and must say I will be trying it soon, but am skeptical as well, because I'm not sure how exactly you proceed with opening from the other end.
Thanks, Nik, for bringing us all together to better ourselves. It's fun and amusing. Although, I must admit I'm a little hurt to didn't make any comments on your weekend back in GA and the fun we had. :(
So, sorry this is so long, guess I should have just emailed you instead of taking up room on your blog. *sigh. Too late now, deal with it. sorry pregnancy hormones kicking in there, I'm not so nice anymore ;)
