wanted: personal chef

Interior Libary, Sunday evening
7:45 - go home and watch West Wing (8pm) or continue studying? am in a groove, best not to stop, can watch last half hour
8:02 - will finish this set of evidence problems, then head home for dinner
8:05 - these problems are taking forever, will do 3/4 of them
8:06 - what should i eat when i get home?
8:09 - pizza? no. had calzone for lunch (see below). something a little more healthy. no cheese.
8:13 - i have no idea if Wally can testify that Albert, Dorsey's witness, has a grand larceny conviction. wonder if Albert had spaghetti for dinner or a peanut butter sandwich
8:15 - yes. impeach the witness...mmm. peaches. i think there are some apples in the fridge, can eat those with peanut butter.
8:20 - is there anything frozen that doesn't take any effort? concentrate. CONCENTRATE~YOU ARE IN THE ZONE!!
8:24 - crap. west wing. plus i need to eat. will do the last 1/2 of the problems after dinner. and Rome. have to watch Rome at 9. but should do evidence...will get to that later. just leave. leave now!

Exterior, Law School
8:27 - uh....where's my car? car is stolen. oh mY...where the hell is my car? is this really happening? parked over on the other side. car is right there. no drama and no car theft story. oh, well.
8:29 - sweet! my cd player has decided to relinquish control of my jack johnson cd. i guess one month of the same 12 songs gets old for it, too. old school indigo girls will take the stress of a ten hour day at the library off my mind.
8:29-8:37 - singing at the top of my lungs, cool end-of-summer air - life's not so bad. but what will i eat for dinner? spaghetti? too much tomato sauce lately. cereal? no milk. microwave meal? none available - just lasagna. ugh. veggies? too much work. will starve.

Interior, Apartment
8:38 - quick! can still catch the last 20 mins of the west wing! food. get food.
8:39 - frozen veggie blend looks good. garam masala indian sauce is easy - open the jar. will be delicious and instantaneous!
8:41 - F!%$. spilled half jar of sauce all over counter because of the stupid plastic keeping lid on. don't they know about other ways of doing that?
8:42 - is ok. will just scrape into pot. counter very clean i'm sure. i think i cleaned it before we went to puerto rico. counter now tinted in big yellow blob.
8:49 - veggies thawed and now heating nicely in stove. no time for rice or couscous or pasta. will eat some pita bread to dip in sauce..mmmm. olive oil! toasted! quick!
8:52 - 8 more minutes til rome, dinner almost done except for stubborn frozen broccoli.
8:54 - bread not quite ready, same with stubborn broccoli.
8:56 - should i switch channels? is west wing over? time for rome? still need scenes...oh, should rinse out jar and recycle. am saving the world! eating healthy! am fabulous working woman!
8:57 - did i take the pita bread out? crap. will be burnt to a crisp. (Open oven door) that looks like a fire. blink. still fire. blink blink - i must be seeing things i'm so dizzy from hunger. still fire. F$!&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what do i do? panic. don't panic. get the fire extinguisher. shit. don't have one. k, there's a fire, what do i do?!! "Baking Soda." i don't have baking soda! wonder if baking powder will do. THINK. DO NOT USE WATER - remember fiasco at wellington ridge with tacos, oil, fire, water, bad. bad. throw baking soda into oven - will it explode? am going to die. need fire extinguisher. baking soda not working. not WORKING. why do i do this?? why can't i just make a meal? i just want to eat. is that too much to ask? "why don't you take it out of the oven?" take it out? won't it blow up the entire kitchen? k removes the pan from the oven and i dumped the entire can of baking soda on the poor pita bread. is now frosted pita. could be good with some sugar...
great. now i'm going to miss rome.
9:01 - did not miss rome! only missed previously on! hurray! veggie stuff needs rice..should've made rice.

As I've told you, I love reading your blog because it reminds me of how much fun it was living with you in college!

Also, for the record, I take full credit/blame for the Great Fire of '00, aka "The Wellington Ridge Taco Blaze." My years of dedication to the field of home economics failed me at a critical moment. Thank God you were there with the fire extinguisher as I (rather unsuccessfully) tried to recall the numbers 9-1-1.

But we got a new stove top out of it, so let's not call it a TOTAL loss.

Heh. Former Georgia FHA president sets fire to apartment in kitchen disaster. I had forgotten the irony in that...
what the hell were you doing in future "homemakers" of america anyway? you're the least homemaker-y of all the people i know (except me, of course, and apparently there's good reason why i'm not - see blog)

The irony was that I actually never took a Home Ec class in high school. Not one. Which, by the way, was the ONE prerequisite for even being a MEMBER of FHA. And they made me State President. I can't even sew a button onto a shirt.

do you still have political aspirations? because if so, posting a blatant misrepresentation on a public space may not be the best way to go about grooming a trustworthy image :)

I gave up the political aspirations long, long ago. Far too many past indiscretions stand between me and a promising political career.

Hell, my recent 2 week trip to Greece was probably the final nail in that coffin...
