tofurkey thanks

in the spirit of thanksgiving i'm going to overcome my scrooge-like disposition of late and recount some of the things for which i'm thankful. since we are all thankful for our family, friends, health (well, the rest of you), etc, i'm going to skip the cliche stuff and really get down to it:

bright eyes - despite being scolded by an usher for eating a granola bar during intermission, the concert last friday was fantastic. we felt a little old being there, but seeing the group of high school kids down a couple rows reminded me of those days of music-obsession - adam, sarah, jewel, emily and amy - and for the first time since 1997 or so i can feel myself totally being drawn in by an artist. i'm ready to get on the groupie train any minute now.... if you've got a spare spot on your christmas list you should add "i'm wide awake it's morning" - you'll be hooked, too.

electric tea kettles - i first became aware of these my first time in england. they are life changing mechanisms. tea in less than 2 mins! none of this waiting around for water to boil for ages. they are borderline necessity when you've got a cold.

gilmore girls - this show is so rad.

harry potter/j.k. rowling - these guys never let me down - pure escapism every time, plus the british accents/phrases make me happy.

tofurkey - no, i don't eat tofurkey and frankly it frightens me a little. but i'm glad it exists - it means there is some sort of market for vegetarian thanksgiving and if at least one bird is saved because of tofurkey, then it's been a good day.

cheap gloves - they make cold weather bearable and even a little fun.

bic yellow highlighters - perfect in almost every way, if only they never ran out

pink is the new blog - how did i get my celebrity news before this site? 2 weeks later like everyone else! it has changed my life.

and finally, thank you european chocolate makers because you opened my eyes to what real chocolate tastes like and even if all of the above was taken away from me, i'd still have you.

if you can overcome the cheesiness factor, go ahead and let us know what little things make the difference to you.

so, uh, i'm leaving in roughly 3 hrs and i guess i should pack now. hope you all have a groovy thanksgiving and eat until you feel sick. see you on monday!
