rock on. i can't believe this is my 50th post. if i had a site meter i could tell you how many people aren't reading, but i don't, so we'll all have to use our imaginations. now. onto what i planned to blog about anyway.
today many good things happened:
i actually got to eat breakfast (yesterday i did not due to scheduling difficulties involved in our attempt at a double-matinee. half of a grilled cheese and crappy popcorn does not do a body good like kashi heart to heart and scrambled eggs).
i finally saw syriana. i've seen four movies in the past few days - crash, munich, brokeback mountain, and syriana - of the four syriana is definitely the strongest. and actually, though i've listed them in order of seeing, from worst to best works, too. if you haven't seen syriana but plan to, be sure to take your thinking cap. it's not for the passive, escapism viewing experience, but it is a damn good story and damn well-made film.
i mastered the first verse of benzie box. around 8pm last sunday night, as jeff and i were struggling through hangovers to make it to salisbury, nc before the "severe thunderstorms" of monday, we kept ourselves awake and engaged by finding the most difficult hip-hop song we had on board and forcing ourselves to memorize it (this is all preparation for our hip-hop cover band). good times were had, but no time for verse 2, and verse 1 was weak at best. well, today i got all the words AND the rhythm and i think cee-lo and dangerdoom would be proud (yes, same cee-lo as "if you're not down with cee-lo, then you are a zee-ro).
AND for the first time in my life i won an arm wrestling contest. i won't reveal the identity of my opponent, but s/he kicked my ass on the right arm. upon switching to the left, however, my days in the gym won out over a right-hander's ignored appendage. so far this is my proudest moment of 2006. should be a fantastic year.
upon review of the above post, turns out it actually was not what i planned to write about at all. i don't know how i ended up here, so i'm going to do a double header and add another. but you'll read that one first because the site will post it first. i could switch them, but then this would be the 51st instead of the 50th and then we'd all be fucked up.
