It's her suits - UGH.

Q: Why Obama over Hillary? (Mendacious)

A: He's way hotter.

Ok, seriously. I don't know how to condense this into a cohesive paragraph or thought process (especially since, ahem, I'm on my third glass of wine in 45 mins as I write this, not as I publish - see future Reader's Choice Q "When does drinking become a problem?"). I present you with a list of reasons, a best can be articulated, off the top of my head at the present time.

* Diversity - The first campaign meeting I went to in my small town was about 30 people. I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity in those 30 people. Black and white, old and young, educated and uneducated. I came away with a sense of unity in spirit that I had never really experienced before. Then I went to the big campaign rally at a university a few hours away. Wow. All races, all ages, all socio-economic backgrounds, all types of folks were represented. And I don't just mean a token few. It was a rainbow, and it was gorgeous. I could not imagine any other event which would draw together this conglomeration of people - really, this microcosm of American life. Even at a sporting event, some of these types of people would not attend willingly; at a concert, the population is fairly homogenous. That in and of itself was enough to solidify my choice.

* I have loved Obama since I first saw him speak at the Democratic National Convention years ago. Apparently I loved him so much, I was telling my friends in Australia back in 2006 that I wanted him to run for president. Unfortunately, I have disliked Hillary a lot longer than that. Something about her that just bothers me.

* I read an article once back in the day talking about how many of the possible presidential candidates were lawyers. You had to match the candidate with their former legal job. Obama was the only one who had a prior career in public service, and that was very impressive to me. I know it's debatable about how "charitable" he actually was, but let's face it - he went to Harvard Law, he could've had ANY six-figure job he wanted, but instead he helped Chicago's homeless people. That's not easy to do, and I give him much respect for that.

* I'm a rebellious kind of girl. I'm no idiot - any politician is a politician, but at least Obama speaks the message of change, and he seems committed to it to the extent that it's actually possible. Hillary is just the establishment in a different costume.

* I kind of have a crush on Obama (um, not quite like that chick at the top, but you know, I'd make out with him.). Hillary....not so much. And her suits. . .that yellow one. . .Ew. That yellow suit makes me violent. Michelle Obama dresses like a hot lady. Hillary dresses like I don't even know what.

* This video (below) inspires me. Even though I recognize it as essentially propaganda, nothing Hillary says has ever inspired me.

So yeah, none of this really has to do with issues or stances, and that's on purpose. I'm not versed on their specific policy differences, but I'm willing to bet they're neglible at best. Honestly, I think the President's position on a topic is almost irrelevant. Sure, it's important, but the founding fathers' writings indicate that the Executive Branch, the President in particular, was meant to be the "weakest" of the three branches. The President can't (or shouldn't, according to the founding fathers) do much without the legislature or the courts. In essence, s/he is a figurehead, a person who should inspire us locally and represent us diplomatically - not a lawmaker, not an interpreter of the Constitution, not someone putting our entire country at war based on his personal whim. For me, Obama is perfect for that. Hillary, well, she'd be a great Vice-President.

Hillary's pantsuits have got to go. They are horrid, at best, but how about looking the teensiest bit feminine in a skirt? There is nothing wrong, at all, with looking feminine even if you think you are playing a man's game. Show a little ankle, Hil! Unless you have cankles, and then I'd keep them under wraps. At least have a different colored jacket from your pants FOR ONCE!

Whoops.

Let's try that again.

I said she also has some truly upsetting facial expressions.

Like this one. http://themoderatevoice.com/wordpress-engine/files/2007-november/hillary_clinton.jpg

Very awesome articulation of why Obama is, clearly, the best candidate. And his speech on race was so amazing and inspiring. Now if we can just get on to the general election already. . .
