#22 NBPM - Giving Thanks

In the inaugural year of the blog, I did a list of things I was thankful for outside the scope of family, friends and health. If you take a look at that list, I stand by all those entries. In fact, most of those things make my life worth living every day (Gilmore Girls now being substituted with Grey's, naturally; also Jess from Gilmore is Peter on Heroes, so I'm keeping it in the family).

If we look hard enough, though, there is always more to be thankful for, so I'm going to try to expand on that initial list in the spirit of the season.

* Australia - Last Thanksgiving I was in Melbourne and I cooked up a Thanksgiving feast for Debs and myself. I believe it was roasted sweet potatoes, steamed asparagus and something else delicious. We sat on the balcony of their gorgeous apartment and overlooked the city while we ate. I say it over and over again, but I dearly miss Australia, and Melbourne in particular. Right now I'm just grateful that I had the opportunity to spend time there at all.

* Masala - Yep, sometimes he's a pain. He also smells - like the day after I give him a bath, he smells. He gets baths more than any dog I know. But he rocks. He's fun and he makes me laugh and we play tug of war and I'm teaching him how to give me hugs. I love love love him.

* Natural Peanut Butter - Seriously. I'm an addict. Straight from the jar, on some bread, as a pretzel dip, smothered on a banana. I think I could eat peanut butter pizza. I love peanut butter for reals.

* Online shopping - I could not survive in this small town without online shopping. I purchase at least one item per week, usually more, via the internet. Total life saver and boredom remedy at work.

* Graduating from law school and having the job that I have wanted for 6 years - Don't get wrong, I miss the ready-made social life that law school had, but I don't miss the classes, I don't miss the homework, and I don't miss the tests. School has its perks over the working world, but now my free time is mine and I don't have to worry about not doing next week's Federal Tax reading or writing a paper for a seminar. Plus, while 99% of the world may think my job is the pits, I totally dig it.

* Grey's Anatomy (and Dr. McDreamy) - I'm almost caught up to the current episode. I totally cheated on my writer's strike and I feel really badly about it, but I just had to. I don't know how well I'm going to deal with having to wait a week between fixes. There are going to be serious withdrawal symptoms.

* Reef flip-flops - I broke down and bought these over the summer and they are the most comfortable shoes I own. If you ever want to buy me a present, I'm a size 7.5.

* The weather! - It's gorgeous outside today, probably in the lower 70s. I don't need a jacket. I don't need gloves. I don't need a hat. Life is good.

* Tandoor Chef Frozen Indian Food - This is how I get my Indian food fix these days. Life would be nearly unbearable without this sustenance.

Go ahead, share some of your non-traditional thanks!

Agreed with you on the flip-flops, online shopping, and the sweet puppy dog!

I have been meaning to post on my blog, but this takes less effort, so, here goes:

1. Orange-Orange Vitamin Water

2. The fact that it's warmer in DC than in New Hampshire (though not by much)

3. The really amazing football season that Georgia has had

4. Milo Ventimiglia
